Founded in 1979 by Geneviève Chaussat, a former principal dancer, and her husband François Chevalley, the École de Danse Classique de Genève has passed on the art of dance for over forty years. In 2016, Karine Andrei-Sutter, a former student who became a professional dancer, took over its direction.
Over more than forty years, the school has trained generations of dancers, from the first introduction at age four through to advanced level, while never ceasing to welcome adults as well. Long recognised as a professional training school, it has seen several of its students join international stages and companies.
True to its vocation — to promote classical ballet and quality teaching — it brings together a team of experienced teachers and presents its students on stage, in the tradition of the performances it has staged since 1979. Here, dancers work in a professional and caring environment, on a dance floor designed to protect the body, from the youngest to the most advanced.
